People like Scott Mackler, who accomplished so much during his 55 years, instill great hope for others facing the challenges of Lou Gehrig's Disease. Your gift of $100.00 to the 15th Annual Scott Mackler 5K Run/Walk on October 26 means the world to our ALS families. It supports The ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter and The Scott A. Mackler, MD, PhD Assistive Technology Program, which provides communication devices and training for those living with ALS. Because of your generosity, our region is able to help people with ALS express their thoughts and feelings through words and images.

Scott was a forerunner in Assistive Technology, having been one of the few who pioneered the use of Brain Computer Interface (BCI) technology. He believed that communicating effectively would vastly improve the quality of life for all those living with ALS and give them increased independence. Just as importantly, Scott was a loving father, brother, colleague, athlete and friend. And, a believer who "always looked on the bright side of life*". Your contributions honor his unique legacy.
