I spoke to Jonathan – apparently PICC has called him about this……


I sent to Henry waiting to speak to him and will pick up with Andy.


I suppose what could have been better is that Hunter should have told us
before the story broke so we could have had a response ready…..


It was a matter of time before this became public information. Quite often
it is not the news per se but how it is managed. I am disappointed that he
did not give us a heads up – we are all in business together…..


Perhaps Hunter should advise us how we should respond to this. That would
normally be the professional way to deal with this.

I read this news 10 minutes after I got off my flight back from Beijing. I
caught up with Hunter today he was sorry about his mistake and has not had
so much as a drink since the discharge earlier this year

There are no excuses for bad behaviour, however everyone makes mistakes his
just happen to wind up in the news.

I agree with you that this news will hinder his ability to fundraise in the
short term but after a few months his reputation bounces back at least here
in the US where folks are more forgiving of these types of transgressions
as long as the person maintains sobriety.


How this plays in China is beyond me I don't know how they react to this
news.

I am of the opinion that Hunter deserves my support as a friend and I
believe that he will be a more useful clear minded team mate to all of us.
Let's support him and move forward


I value your opinion Lindsay and would like to know what you think about
this issue. Michael Lin has seen the news obviously and if there is damage
control to be done in China I would like to hear your thoughts on that

Washington (CNN) - The Navy Reserve discharged Vice President Joe Biden's
son Hunter this year after he tested positive for cocaine, U.S. officials
confirmed.

The discharge of Biden, a 44-year-old lawyer and managing partner at an
investment firm, was first reported by the Wall Street Journal

on Thursday. He confirmed the report in a statement to CNN.

"It was the honor of my life to serve in the U.S. Navy, and I deeply regret
and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge. I
respect the Navy's decision. With the love and support of my family, I'm
moving forward," he said.

· Biden was commissioned as an ensign in May 2013 and assigned as a
public affairs officer in a Norfolk, Virginia-based reserve unit. A month
later, he tested positive for cocaine, and he was discharged in February,
according to the report.

The U.S. official said the Navy never had contact with the vice president's
office over the issue, and that standard procedure for failed drug tests is
administrative discharge. The vice president's office didn't comment on the
report.

Hunter Biden is the younger of Biden's two sons. His older brother, Beau
Biden, is Delaware's attorney general and a major in the Delaware Army
National Guard. He was deployed for a year in Iraq.
