Hunter, The current recovery in the US economy has been far weaker than all other recoveries in modern times. This much everyone knows. The exact sources of weakness relative to previous recoveries, however, are quite surprising. This recovery has contained pockets of historic strength and weakness compared to the sources of growth in other modern expansions. Our director of research, Mark Zoff, has written a comprehensive report analyzing the exact reasons why this recovery has been so tepid in historical terms and the outlook for growth going forward, which you can find a link to at the top of this email. Key conclusions include: US households have largely cut back spending on all non-essential items, and have only splurged on technology-related products and services during the last five years Despite the recent weakening in wage growth, the quality of new jobs being created has improved materially in the last six months, which should fuel wage growth in the future Contrary to popular belief, the recovery in capital spending has been the strongest in modern times by a significant margin Investment should be healthy going forward because of the unconventional energy boom, the big data revolution, stronger construction, and robust corporate profitability The decline in government spending explains nearly half of the weakness of this recovery compared to others in the last six decades You are also able to comment on this report https://www.davidhaleweb.com/reports/why-this-recovery-has-been-so-weak-despite-capital-expenditures-being-so-strong?wv_name=R.
