I wanted to alert you to a fundraiser for WITNESS I am co-hosting around Peter Gabriel’s concert at the United Center on Monday, June 20th. Peter is the founder and Board Chair of WITNESS.org. WITNESS is a not-for-profit human rights organization dedicated to working with local human rights groups around the world to help document abuses using video and use that documentation to make change (See it. Film it. Change it.). Their work ranges from a current campaign combating gender based violence in conflict zones to recent efforts which helped lead to the bipartisan passage of the Elder Justice Act which works to combat financial, emotional and physical abuse of the elderly in the United States (a one page description of WITNESS is attached).

The event will include access to the sound check and a chance to meet Peter that afternoon. Following the sound check there will be an opportunity to learn more about WITNESS at a cocktail party at The Florentine at our new JW Marriott at LaSalle and Adams and then great tickets for the concert that evening. Subject to working out details with the United Center, we hope to provide transportation from the sound check to the Florentine and back so that people may leave their cars at the venue. The requested donation is $1,500 per person, the majority of which will be tax deductible. Let me know if you would like to learn more or better, send me a quick reply confirming your attendance or not so I can make sure Peter provides the accurate amount of tickets. This will truly be a one of a kind event with one of Rock’s most talented musicians.

Moreover, WITNESS is a great organization doing important work and Peter’s concert is amazing. The first half is dedicated to the new album of his interpretation of songs by artists ranging from Paul Simon and David Bowie to Radio Head and Arcade Fire. The second half consists of Peter’s classics. All with a 46-piece orchestra (picture above). I promise it will be a night to remember.
