Hello there students and parents -
I wanted to send a quick note to let you know a bit more (from me) about Wednesday's fundraiser in hopes that you and your child may be able to help us raise funds for Japan's earthquake relief. Our hope is to have both a bake sale and an ice cream sundae sale (floats too!) on Wednesday at 3pm. We have devoted several class periods to organizing the event; many students have shown a real knack for event planning! The only good time during the day for a good fundraiser is at the end of the day. We'll start the sale at 3 and end around 3:40 or so. I apologize in advance if this puts a huge kink in your afternoon schedule. If so, please do not worry. We'll hopefully have enough students who can stay and help through to the end.

Peace Winds Japan is one organization that looks like it's doing a lot of good on the ground in Japan right now. Dave Wood, 7/8 science teacher, spent some time last summer in one of the villages that was hit; he also has a contact in the village who is collecting funds. Once we've figured our totals, we'll make the decision about how much to send to which place.

So, thank you in advance for helping your children to a successful event. I am always impressed by the leadership and energy that students exhibit during these kinds of fundraisers. A real-life learning experience!

Take care and please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
AB Carneal
5/6 Math Teacher
