Dear Members of the Sidwell Friends School Parent Community:


As you may have heard, a School parent has sued the School in connection
with his wife's alleged affair with a School employee. We are
disappointed that the suit was filed and believe most of its allegations
and all of its legal conclusions are wrong. We will consequently defend
ourselves vigorously in the appropriate forum.


The parent who filed the suit is in the midst of divorce and custody
proceedings, and he and his wife were legally separated before their
child ever became a student at the School. Moreover, the School does
not believe that anyone it employed ever had a therapeutic relationship
with the divorcing couple's daughter.


Putting aside the merits of the case, we are saddened that the parent
chose to file his allegations in a public forum and that he then chose
to release them to the media. Such publicity cannot possibly help any
of the people affected by this case. Given the personal nature of this
matter and that it is subject to litigation, we do not intend to make
further comments to the press or to the School community.
