Last year, we helped thousands of business leaders brief state and local officials on how to fix local schools. They covered school budgets, teacher pay, personalized learning, and statewide tests. But they spent most of their time talking about skills.

Some business leaders focused on work skills (like coding). Others focused on life skills (like balancing a checkbook) or people skills (like teamwork). Some recommended modernizing shop classes and home economics, or internships that place students with local companies. And some talked about making traditional coursework more demanding.

Our school board and local government partners have asked us to collect more recommendations - particularly on ways to prepare today's students for the jobs of tomorrow.
