Hi Maisy,

Excellent hearing back from you: sounds fabulous - please advise if your sister is coming along, or if the booking is for 1 person?

We have a fabulous transfer service from Johannesburg to our camps and back,should you wish to utilise this service from Johannesburg to our camps and back. Please note this service is not included in the course fees.
The EcoTraining Bush Bus departs from the Airport Inn B & B, also trading as the Emerald Guest House (Kempton Park, Johannesburg) at 07h00 on the first day of your course.
Departing camp at08h30 on the last day of course (returning back to Emerald Guest house on the last day of course, unless otherwise arrangements)

It is advised that you fly in the day prior to your starting date and overnight in Johannesburgat Emerald Guest House (for details see attached) as they are closely situated to O R Tambo International Airport (transfers to and from the airport at no charge) and offer affordable room rates.Please arrange your flights accordingly.

Kindly book the Bush Bus transfer with EcoTraining and yourovernight accommodation directly with Emerald Guesthouse.Payment for the Bush Bus can be made together with your course fee payment into the same account

Hi Maisy,

The Trails guide is strictly for 18 years and older… it’s a predominant walking course, with a lot of animal encounters and intense situations, I would not recommend this for younger participants.
If anything, the Kenya Safari Guide course would be ideal, as you still get the full -on guide experience of learning to become a guide, it’s a brilliant course for anyone wanting an extended bush adventure. The trails guide is purposely made for guides wanting to qualify further and placing them in scenarios where they encounter dangerous game and weapon handling.

We have a course running from the 2 – 29 November at Borana in the Lewa conservancy: Please see the course and camp information attached,

If you are looking for something in June; then the 2 -week Tracking and Trailing course in Mashatu (Botswana) might be of interest, as you walk most of the time predominantly tracking and following animals

First off I was wondering when the deadline for applications is due. And also what prerequisites I have to have for this specific session. In addition to that I was also planning on seeing if my little sister could join me. She is 16 almost to be 17, but is extremely athletic and very capable of doing everything that I can. Would she be allowed on the trip as well?

The fee for the Field Guide level 1 will include: Accommodation, meals, intercamp transfers (in the middle of the course) Instructors and training, activities, FGASA registration, All Manuals and study materials, exams and moderation. The fee excludes transfers to the first camp and from the last camp.

Please also see the camp information sheet on Makuleke to give you a better idea of where the course will be taking place

You are welcome to let me know which dates you are interested in, and I’ll be happy to provide camp information and availability, and/or make a provisional booking for you to reserve your place.

Please note the rate stipulated in the course document will be honoured for 30 days as of date of enquiry, and thereafter may be subject to change without notice.
