Dear Lukas, Stephen, Mike, Sally, John, Hunter, and Pierre, Thank you for the excellent board meeting last week. I've attached the preliminary minutes, please suggest any changes while the meeting is still in your memory, so that we can have fairly acceptable minutes for actual approval at the September Board Meeting. *Do note the dates of the next board meetings c4 Board: September 14 in the afternoon c3 Board: September 12 in the afternoon* Meanwhile - I will be following up with Hunter, John, and Sally regarding potential partners on our development aid advocacy next week. We have 40 people arriving for our fly-in and lobby day on Monday and Tuesday. Also, at the Board Meeting I promised you names of those we are approaching for the Hill caucus - if you have other ideas, please send and we will discuss. Right now, we are looking at: *Senate:* Chris Coons: Foreign Relations, Africa Subcommittee, and Energy (long-term relationship with Truman, former Senior Fellow) Jeanne Shaheen: Foreign Relations, Energy, and Armed Services Committees (former Staff member of Gary Hart, friends with Chris Coons) Mark Udall: Armed Services, Energy, Intelligence Committees * House (these three are friends and enjoy working together)* Adam Smith; HASC Adam Schiff: State, Foreign Ops and Related Programs Subcommittee, and Appropriations Steve Israel: Appropriations (long-time relationship with Truman) We had a fabulous conference last weekend - the best one yet, hands down. Kati Marton, Dick Holbrooke's widow, was so impressed that she has offered to help any way she can - and our donors who were there felt the same. The new Fellows are bursting with ideas and excitement - we will send you their bio books next week. I've spent the week fundraising in New York and now am off to San Francisco for the same, and we are doing well - I hope to have good news on that front! Many thanks for all of your work and deliberation, Rachel -- CEO and President Truman National Security Project and Truman Educational Institute Office: 202-216-9723 Cell: 202-320-2918 www.TrumanProject.or
