Biographical Information


Henry Ensher was confirmed as the new Ambassador of the United States to Algeria on May 26, 2011. His most recent assignment was Head of the Afghanistan Officer at the U.S. Department of State. In that position, he worked with Special Envoy Richard Holbrooke to develop a comprehensive strategy for the country. Previous overseas posts include Hermosillo, Jeddah, Muscat, Damascus, Vienna, Algiers, Tel Aviv and Baghdad. He also served as Political Affairs Director in the Office of Iraq at the U.S. Department of State.
