Tuesday - May 17, 2011 From the School This Week's Query How can you include others even if you yearn for private time with your closer friends? Notes from Sally Assembly: the 37th Street Players (8th grade drama scenes) Summer reading lists for all students who will be in Middle School next year have been posted on the SFS website. Please note that each grade level has one or two required titles; the remainder of the lists are suggestions of books that students might enjoy. Our primary goal is that students keep reading over the summer! Some reminders of dates as we approach the end of the year: 7/8 Choral and Orchestra concert: Wednesday evening, May 25 at 7:30 PM and Friday afternoon, May 27 at 1:45 PM. 5th grade knighting ceremony: 2:30 PM on Wednesday, June 1st, followed by the feast in the dining room at 4 PM. 6th grade Choral and 5/6 Orchestra concert: Thursday evening, June 2 at 7:30 PM and Friday afternoon, June 3 at 2:30 PM. 7/8 Dance: Friday evening, June 3. Dinner for the 8th graders begins at 6:30; the dance for 7th and 8th graders is from 7:30 – 10:00 PM in the dining room. 5/6 Track Meet: Morning of Monday, June 6 (rain date Tuesday, June 7) 6th grade World Expo: Monday afternoon, June 6th, 4:00 – 5:30 PM. Event begins in the Meeting House. The last day of school is Thursday, June 9th. It is a full day, and dismissal will be at 3:20. The 8th grade closing ceremony is that evening for families of the 8th graders. PA Announcements 6th Grade Hangout - Tuesday May 24 This is the third and final hangout for this school year. Please make sure your 6th-grader has reserved time to gather, socialize and relax with other students in the grade from 2:00pm to 3:30pm on Tuesday, May 24th. To help make this a successful event, we still need tons of parent volunteers to assist with setup/cleanup and to help chaperone. Players of all levels are encouraged to participate for a great day of golf and camaraderie all while supporting the student financial aid program.
