Dear Members of the Board, Thank you all for your continued engagement and support of the Truman National Security Project. Since our last board meeting it has been my pleasure to speak with each of you about the direction of Truman and the growth of our programs. In 2014, the Truman National Security Project will continue to unite next-generation veteran, political, and policy leaders to develop and advance strong, smart and principled solutions to the global challenges Americans now face. In order to achieve that mission, Truman must continue to *enhance and expand our board of directors* in order to build a strong foundation of financial support for our organization. At our last meeting, we voted to add Suzy George as a new member of the Board and discussed the importance of establishing new relationships to help meet our annual fundraising goals while also building long-term partnerships that will generate support for years to come. It is in that spirit that we will *convene again by phone to add a new member to our board of directors, Craig Hanson, whose bio is at the bottom of this e-mail*. I've had the pleasure of getting to know Craig over the last few years in his capacity as a Truman Fellow and I think he'd be a great addition. As a venture capitalist and member of the President's National Finance Committee, he's got the fundraising chops and some helpful Bay Area connections. We'd like to do a quick (5-10 min) call on *Friday, August 1 at 3:00pm (EST). *Please respond and let me know if you are able to join -- we need a quorum in order to take a vote, so it is important that we have participation. We will send around an official agenda and call-in info once we confirm your availability. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact Sarah Bruno at sbruno@trumancnp.org or 202.216.9723 x2315 if you have any questions. Thank you again for your continued engagement and commitment to the Truman National Security Project. Respectfully, Mike Breen -- *Michael Breen*Executive Director Truman National Security Project & Center for National Policy Office: 202.216.9723 x2325 Cell: 603.828.9550 www.TrumanProject.org <http://www.trumanproject.org> & www.CNPonline.org <http://www.cnponline.org> *Craig Hanson* Craig Hanson has policy, analysis and management work experience at the confluence of economic policy, foreign policy and national security. Craig is a General Partner with Next World Capital (NWC), an international technology venture capital firm where he manages the firm's investment efforts in the U.S. and Europe via offices in San Francisco, Paris, Brussels and London. NWC specializes in helping U.S. companies expand internationally, and runs a business platform consisting of many of the largest companies and top executives in Europe for the benefit of its American companies. Craig also conducts independent research, analysis and drafting of public-sector program ideas at the nexus of economic policy and national security. As part of U.S. foreign economic policy in the Middle East and North Africa, Craig has been an official member of U.S. State Department delegations to Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, and a judge for GIST at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Turkey. Through these and other efforts, he works with government officials, policy experts and business leaders in the U.S. and abroad to speak, mentor and advise on economic growth, capital investment, trade, development and infrastructure. He was also the Chair of the Silicon Valley Leadership Committee of Nuru International, a social innovation non-profit providing holistic programs to fight extreme poverty in the developing world. Craig is on the National Finance Committee of Obama for America 2012 and the DNC, a National Co-Chair of Technology for Obama, and founded and co-led the National Security and Foreign Policy Forum for the Obama campaign. Previously, Craig ran Silicon Valley for Kamala and was a member of the Transition Team for Attorney General of California Kamala D. Harris where he advised on technology policy. In 2011 Craig was named one of the top 40 Under 40 Leaders nationally by the New Leaders Council. He graduated from Carleton College and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was a Sloan Fellow and President of his class. -- *PS: We have a new address. *The Truman Project and the Center for National Policy have moved to a new space at 1250 I Street NW, Suite #500, Washington DC 20005. You're welcome to visit. And please update your address book
