The YLS Alumni Office wanted to echo Robin’s enthusiastic note and encourage you to attend.

As Robin mentioned, the D.C. alumni chapter is the second largest alumni chapter in the country and one of the most active. Robin and the rest of the current board, as well as previous boards, have done a wonderful job putting together a broad range of interesting and fun events, often spotlighting YLS alumni. However, after discussions with our office about how all other cities with a large number of alumni have a bigger group that plans events, the board felt that they could make the Association more vibrant if they adopted a similar model, ensuring the Association’s activities draw on and are informed by the full resources of its alumni community.

As Robin’s letter stated, there will be two topics on the agenda for the meeting on June 15th: (1) how to restructure; and (2) brainstorming about events for the year ahead. The meeting will be held from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Williams & Connolly LLP, 725 12th St., N.W., Washington, D.C.

If you have an interest in discussing the future direction of the YLSA of Washington, DC and/or want to be involved with deciding what alumni events the DC group should sponsor, we very much hope you will attend! Alumni who participate in these “planning committees” in other cities have a lot of fun coming up with ideas for events, and often form strong friendships with fellow members.
