A majority of the 2,472 delegates at the Republican National Convention formally nominated Donald Trump to be the party's presidential nominee Tuesday.

The New York delegation put Trump over the 1,237-delegate threshold necessary to claim the nomination during a roll call vote on the floor of Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena. Trump, who was declared the "presumptive nominee" by Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on May 3 following the real estate mogul's decisive victory in Indiana, is expected to formally accept the nomination during his prime-time speech on Thursday.
