Good morning.

Saturday is move day at the Open Championship and move they did. (Including a 17 year old Amateur who got himself in contention) Thirteen players shot under par, more than Thursday and Friday combined. The greens were receptive and perhaps more than any other Open venue these greens hold the line so putts go where the players send them.

Today, look for a golf course set up that will enable players to go at some pins and get some birdies. We could see a 66 today - a Sunday charge from the middle of the leader board...!

Like all sports momentum is huge in golf so you have to like the guys who posted even par and sub par rounds yesterday. Momentum and good swing thoughts are theirs to start the day.

In a sign the economy may be getting better the USGA merchandise tent, think HUGE mall size anchor store, is having a great week. Fans are swarming the store. Or maybe the sales are due to the San Francisco climate. As a local SF Chronicle columnists writes:

The biggest selling item at this year's Open? Outerwear.

Some things never change. As long as tourists roam the face of the Earth, they will insist on believing that San Francisco is in sunny California. And then they will be forced to buy sweatshirts."

And on the viewing front ESPN's Friday prime time coverage set a record. We will see what the weekend coverage numbers look like on Monday.
