Dear Hunter, Thanks for getting back to me with regard to getting the invitation out to your dad for the American Ireland Fund Gala. It was a wonderful night. I hope your dad and the family enjoyed their visit to Ireland, although it was a shame to have missed you this time. As I have said before, I hope you get a chance to travel to Ireland and if you do, let¹s be sure to organize a get together while you¹re there and maybe even have a round of golf. In the meantime, if you wouldn't mind, would it be possible to forward my note below to your dad as I would like to thank him for his presence at the Ireland Fund Conference and for also expressing his well wishes to my brother and his family. Thanks again and let's stay in touch. - John Dear Mr. Vice President: I hope that you are very well. It was a pleasure to see you in Dublin a few weeks ago, and I am writing to express my appreciation to you on two entirely different levels. First, on behalf of the Ireland Funds, thank you so much for coming to our 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner. You have been a great friend to the Fund for many years, and by attending our event, you once again helped bring much needed attention to the many worthy projects we support. Your powerful speech was certainly the highlight of the night, and your themes of family and staying connected to your roots struck a major chord with all of those in attendance myself included. Thank you for all of your support of the Ireland Funds. That brings me to my second expression of appreciation. My brother Patrick¹s sudden illness was a jolt to everyone in my family, most especially his wife, Fiona. She was filled with apprehension over the treatments he was facing, and was understandably quite anxious. You were incredibly kind and generous to reach out to her as you did, and share your own personal story about overcoming brain aneurisms. When I spoke to her afterwards, it was very clear that your conversation with her did a great deal to allay her fears, and she was in a much better place as a result. It is very obvious that you put a high value on family, and I will be forever grateful for the kindness and compassion you showed to my family. As a postscript, Patrick is doing very, very well, and while there is some work to be done, he is expected to make a full recovery. Please know that if you happen to be coming to New York, I would be delighted to have you drop in for a good cup of Irish tea or maybe something stronger, and of course I would of like to extend the same to any member of your family. I hope to see you again in the near future, and look forward to hearing you speak at the Democratic National Convention next week. Again, thank you for taking the time to attend our event. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Ireland as much as we enjoyed having you and your family with us. With warm regards, John Fitzpatrick P.S. - I just received a lovely note from Valerie. Your sister is a wonderful person, and we enjoyed a bit of fun at dinner. I just sent out a separate note to her as well.
