Starting, Standing and Sliding

Greetings to colleagues, friends and family:

I hope you are doing well! I’ve had so many friends ask me when I’m sending another newsletter that I decided to share some of the stories I’m collecting through photos, audio recordings and videos. Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think and share your own memories with me, too.

** Getting Started in Politics

This photo with Mayor Richard Daley is one of my favorites. I was a young 29 year-old Chicago lawyer who had no idea about what it meant to be involved in politics on a national level. Read more to hear the story of how I got started in politics (http://russocapitolstrategies.us3.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=6ad1f962cb43a678bd1f5b6a7&id=1766b45bb3&e=ee2137e53f) (and was convinced to shave off that awesome 1970’s era mustache.)

** Standing Up With The Speaker

When I finally made it to Washington, it was a totally new experience. Here are some stories (http://russocapitolstrategies.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6ad1f962cb43a678bd1f5b6a7&id=9fb998c379&e=ee2137e53f) of a freshman Member trying to figure out what he was supposed to be doing in this strange place called Congress.

** Sliding Into Home Plate

Who knew that when I got to Congress one of the unexpected rewards was to be on the Congressional baseball team?! Check out these memories of what it was like to be a 30 year-old freshman who stole home plate to win it for the Democrats (http://russocapitolstrategies.us3.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=6ad1f962cb43a678bd1f5b6a7&id=1f8121958d&e=ee2137e53f) after a 12 year shut out. What a fun time.

It’s been so fun speaking to groups and lecturing in university classes.
Here are some of my favorite topics:

- How To Make A Difference in Washington
- Political Updates
- Myths and Realities of Lobbying
- How To Have Influence
- Women In Politics
- Presidential Leadership

Let me know if you have a group who is looking for a speaker.
