As a country, we have lived through too many massacres and we will live through more unless something is done. Do we really want to bring up our children in a time where gun violence is the new norm?

Instead of taking action to end the gun violence epidemic, Republican leadership is pushing a new gun bill through Congress, thanks to blood money from the NRA. The Concealed Carry Reciprocity bill, or H.R. 38, will turn the weakest state-level gun safety laws into national policy. If this becomes federal law, anyone with a concealed carry permit in a state with weaker gun laws, like Oklahoma or Texas, will be able to lawfully carry a concealed weapon in any state – even one with stronger gun laws like Hawaii or Massachusetts.

If we want to stop gun violence and live in a world where massacres are not a normal occurrence, we must tell Speaker Paul Ryan to let the House debate and vote on common-sense action to reduce gun violence. Add your name now:

This bill goes against the wishes of more than half of America’s citizens, who want stronger gun safety legislation. Seth voted against it yesterday, and there's still a chance to stop it in the Senate. But the Republicans in Congress are too busy doing the bidding of the NRA by pushing senseless bills like this to take real action to reduce gun violence.

There are bipartisan bills that will reduce gun deaths, including Seth’s bill to ban bump stocks. But, those bills have been denied a vote thanks to massive campaign contributions by the NRA. If our country ever truly wants to end the epidemic of gun violence, Congress must work together on common-sense solutions the majority of Americans want.
