R.Hunter: When I was first elected senator, I was incredibly fortunate to have Sen. Tom Carper by my side. Through his hard work and his dedication to serving Delaware, Tom showed me what it meant to be a leader in Congress.

Senator Carper is more than a colleague or partner in Washington; he is a friend and a fierce advocate for all Americans. When I served in county government, I worked with Senator Carper to encourage companies to bring jobs to Delaware and to secure federal support for community development. Now, as the top ranked Senate Democrat on the Committee on Environment and Public Works, he is a leader in the fight against climate change.

Tom has worked tirelessly to secure health care for all Americans - fighting back against Republican efforts to gut or repeal health care protections like protections for those with preexisting conditions, children in need of lifelong treatment without the threat of coverage caps, and insurance for young adults just starting out.
