Since I kicked off this campaign, the one thing that I’ve been proud of the most is the number of working Iowans who have stepped up to say they’re with me, and are supporting my run to be a voice for all of us in Washington.

Growing up in a union house, I know the value of hard work, and in stepping up to fight for fairness and respect. That’s why I’m thrilled that the Great Plains Laborers' District Council is the newest member of Team Abby!

Working Iowans represented by labor groups know that I’ve been not just a vote, but a voice for them in the Iowa House, and I will continue to do the same for all Iowans in Congress.

I’ve proudly stood alongside the construction workers, laborers, and tradesmen of the GPLDC, AFSCME, Teamsters, Ironworkers, Sheetmetal Workers, Plumbers and Pipefitters, Dubuque Building Trades, and every one of the Brothers and Sisters in Labor across this state during attack after attack on their livelihoods.

It’s part of who I am, it’s where I come from, and I’ll never give up this fight.

Being treated with dignity and respect for a hard day’s work isn’t a tough concept or too much to ask for. Yet, year after year, Republicans and anti-worker interests have tried to strip away these basic principles from workers across Iowa and the Midwest.

It’s time for us to get back to letting workers know we’ve got their backs. To say thank you for a hard day’s work, not just in words, but in our actions. And that’s exactly what I’ll do in Congress.
