FYI, the link below describes possible orders that could impact US support for the UN. Concerning WFP, the referenced orders could result in decreased funding in the President’s budget submission to Congress and possible restrictions on allocation of USG funding by WFP. However, I remain confident that final appropriations passed by the House and Senate will maintain significant funding for WFP and related legislative language could alleviate the impact of possible restrictions. As you know, WFP has a very deep and bipartisan base of support in the US Congress with Members understanding the global stability/national security implications of our efforts to address food insecurity. We will need to continue to demonstrate the effectiveness of WFP operations and why these efforts are in US interest. I remain confident that we will overcome the possible challenges…as failure is not an option.
