Laitman Director and Marian C. Burke, Trustee and Chair of MAD Travels on an exciting trip to the cultural heart of Mexico City. The last decade has brought enormous changes to this culturally vibrant city. With its centuries-old historic landmarks, rich cultural heritage, modern art and architecture, magnificent scenery, thriving art and design scene, echoes of ancient art and history, and the finest dining, it's no wonder Mexico City has been named the World Design Capital for 2018. With the help of Arts & Travel, a leader in art museum patron tours, we have crafted an itinerary (www.artsandtravel.com/mad) that includes five nights' accommodation at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel and six days of visits to leading museums and historic sites, along with privileged access to artists' studios, cutting-edge galleries, and prominent art collectors who have graciously opened their doors to our group of art lovers. Among other highlights, we will experience curator-led tours of the Museo Soumaya and Museo Nacional de Arte, an after-hours visit to Museo Tamayo, a private tour of the Palacio de Bellas Artes, and specially arranged before-hours tours of the National Museum of Anthropology and the Frida Kahlo Museum. We will visit the homes of distinguished collectors including Barbara Berger and Eugenio López, as well as the studios of numerous artists, including Eduardo Terraza and Tania Candiani. You'll also have free time to explore the city on your own. The trip includes a day in the city of Puebla, to the southeast of Mexico City, known for its colorful tilework, colonial architecture, and Talavera pottery. In addition to sites including the Biblioteca Palafoxiana and the Museo José Luis Bello y Zetina, we will visit a traditional Talavera pottery studio and enjoy lunch at Mural de los Poblanos. This exciting expedition is offered to MAD Trustees and members of the Curator's Circle (https://thestore.madmuseum.org/products/curators-circle-membership) and above. As we anticipate that this trip will fill up quickly, we encourage you to sign up today (http://www.artsandtravel.com/mad/code/index.html) . Please note that the itinerary is subject to change, however, we will maintain the quality of the programing. For a detailed itinerary and pricing, or to make a reservation, please visit www.artsandtravel.com/mad.
