Join Emma Kronman ’09, Director at the Murphy & Partners art advisory firm, Alexander Berggruen ’10, Specialist in Post-War & Contemporary Art at Christie’s New York, and Lucas Zwirner ’13, Editorial Director at David Zwirner Books, for a fascinating discussion of the what, why, and how of the art world. This panel will be moderated by Justin Zaremby ’03, MA ’04, MPhil ’06, PhD ’07, JD ’10.

The global art market is exciting, intriguing, and seemingly elusive, leaving many to wonder how they can even begin to collect art. A panel of recent Yale graduates in the art world will explore current trends in the art market, and the relationship between those who make, acquire, and appreciate art.

Torbreck Wine Dinner

Torbreck Vintners was created with the aim of building one of the best wine estates in the world. Since 1994 Torbreck has been committed to creating exceptional Rhone-style red and white wines reflecting the very best of Australia’s famous Barossa Valley, home to some of the oldest vines on the planet. Torbreck’s commitment to excellence has been validated by a multitude of 100 point scores, and though its production is small, the wines are found in many of the best restaurants and wine cellars across the globe.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, our original speaker is unavailable to speak for this dinner. However, we are excited to welcome Jeffrey Dixon, a representative for Torbreck Vintners, to speak on the Torbreck Wines instead. Jeff Dixon is a University of Virginia graduate who stumbled into the wine industry after a part-time college job at Jefferson Vineyards in Charlottesville. After ten years of wine distribution management in Virginia, he recently moved to Brooklyn to manage a top-end import portfolio across the state of New York, featuring world-class producers such as Torbreck Vintners from Australia’s Barossa Valley. Jeff is a Certified Wine Educator, holds a diploma from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust, and is working towards the Master of Wine qualification.

Join us for a dinner with Jeff Dixon featuring reserve selections alongside Chef Kehrli’s food pairings. Reservations are available for $75 per person, exclusive of taxes and gratuities. All sales are final at 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 27.

IFPDA Print Fair VIP Passes

The International Fine Print Dealers Association has again made a block of VIP passes for their annual Fine Art Print Fair available to Yale Club Members. The Fine Art Print Fair runs from October 25-28 in the River Pavilion at the Jacob Javits Center. The tickets are free of charge to our members.

The Club’s has 75 VIP Passes (each pass admits for two people) are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please RSVP to Librarian Christina Kasman at 212-716-2129 by Friday, September 21.

Vinyasa Yoga & Meditation with Jill

This workshop focuses on Vinyasa-style yoga which combines poses in a flowing sequence. Vinyasa yoga is designed to strengthen, tone, and rejuvenate your body. The workshop will be tailored to each individual’s level incorporating breathing and mediation. With your approval, lavender oil will be used to further soothe and relax both the body and mind.
