Dear Yale Club Members,

I am writing to update you on the progress of the renovations to the athletics areas in the clubhouse. I know that everyone is eager to get back to normal routines here at the Club. We are working tirelessly to keep things on track. A project of this magnitude in a 100-year-old building is inherently rife with unexpected issues, many hidden behind the walls. Without going into detail, I can report that we have pushed through many challenges to keep things reasonably on track. Also, we have made some unplanned improvements to the scope of the project, even while construction has been in progress. Aside from correcting some hidden conditions, we have added a number of enhancements, such as opening and expanding the space above the squash court ceilings, exposing some windows to allow for more natural light on 6 and 6M, completely replacing the pool ceiling, installing a new liner for the pool, and performing more aesthetic improvements for 6M.

We are now anticipating opening a significant portion of the locker rooms and athletics floor the first week in October. The pool is tracking to open the first week in November. We also expect to be on budget.

Some Details on Our Phased Facilities Openings

Our goal is to open areas of the 5^th, 6^th, and 6M Floors to members as soon as possible. Rather than waiting for the facilities to be 100% complete before opening, we will make various areas available for use as soon as we are able.

Our current schedule has the majority of the 6^th Floor and locker rooms open for use the first week of October. That means you will be able to workout, play squash, and shower. 6M will also be available for use at that time, or a few days later.

The sauna and steam rooms will reopen about a week after. The fitness class area and pro shop will also open in this general timeframe. The massage room and family changing facility will follow shortly. We will have a temporary facility for massage available until the completion of the permanent location. The hair stylist's facility will be relocated to the 21^st Floor from the current temporary facility (date TBD).

There will be some work that will take place in the open areas on final finishes. Most of this work will happen overnight. Some will occur during slow times during the day. While this will mean workers will be doing things in the member spaces, the work will be fairly unobtrusive.

Look for more communications over the coming weeks on details about programming and getting re-acclimated to our renovated spaces.
