Dear Board of Directors, We are looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday in Washington for our Fall Board of Directors Meeting. Thank you for your patience as we secured all of our special guests. Attached please find: * Final Agenda * Minutes from May Board Meeting A Note on the Schedule * Our meeting will begin at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at The St. Regis Hotel (923 16th Street NW). * We are awaiting confirmation from Deputy National Security Advisor Mira Ricardel who has agreed to meet with the Board. Ms. Ricardel has led the Foreign Assistance Review process at the NSC. * Please continue to hold time on Wednesday morning as we hope the meeting with Deputy Ricardel will be confirmed to begin at 9:30 AM. If not, our Board Meeting will conclude Tuesday after dinner and we will host Deputy Ricardel in the near future as it will be an important meeting for us! We will unpackage the short and long term implications for the budget battles ahead. Brief Break Topic II: 2018 Midterms & Post-Election Scenario Planning As we approach the 2018 midterm elections, team USGLC will share the latest from around the country on the road to the 2020 campaign. 3:00pm Break 3:30pm Special Guest: Former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) A long-time champion on our issue, who remains close with the Administration, his GOP colleagues on Capitol Hill and the faith-community. Santorum, a CNN political analyst, will join us for an off-the-record discussion on how our issues are faring in the current political landscape. 4:30pm Special Guest: Heather Nauert, Acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs A key member of Secretary Pompeo’s inner circle will join us for a conversation on the importance of development and diplomacy. Not only does this present an opportunity to deepen our relationship with the Administration, but note that Heather is often mentioned as a potential future White House Press Secretary. 5:45pm Cocktail Reception with Special Guest Brock Bierman, Acting CEO, MCC Congratulate newly confirmed head of the Millennium Challenge Corporation as he shares his vision for the future. 6:45pm Dinner Discussion with Special Guest Nick Kristof, The New York Times We look forward to a conversation on the current state of play on politics, humanitarianism, and global affairs from renowned national thought leader and New York Times columnist.
