Dear Esalan Writerfolk, What an amazing week! It was such a pleasure and an honor to hear your work!! I spoke to some of you about my growing concern around the treatment of vulnerable communities in this country, the trampling of human interests by corporate interests, and the necessity for people of good faith to be politically active as the mid-terms approach. The way I see it is this: Anguish is understandable. Action is required. To that end, I’ve decided to organize a series of three-hour generative workshops/fundraisers, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to organizations aimed at social and electoral justice. I plan to charge $150 for the class. Every cent will go to a cause of your choosing. I have one workshop already planned (for Aug. 26 in Piedmont) and wanted to canvas you guys about whether there’s interest holding other workshops/fundraisers in the second half of August, or October 14-16. I’m specifically thinking about a second workshop in Palo Alto, where I’ll be staying. If you’re interested, please drop me a line. I’d still love to set up workshops in other cities, such as Portland, Seattle, and Los Angeles, though those would be tougher to set up, given the travel time/cost.
