** Insights: Digital Health Funding Report Shows a Market Growing in Size and Diversity

The first half of 2018 brought record numbers in digital health funding. More than $6B has been raised so far this year across 414 deals – the largest deal count we’ve seen to date.

In addition to the large number of deals, megarounds are being raised by a variety of digital health companies in the industry, with our entire top ten list pulling in deals over $100M. The top ten deals of the first half of 2018 also demonstrate the diversity in the market; investors aren’t putting their money into one single company category.

We saw over $397M in innovative health funding this week, led by American Well ($290.6M), a telehealth platform, in one of the largest venture investment rounds in the Boston area in recent years. Other big raises included Potrero Medical ($26.6M), GrandOmics ($15.1M), and WelbeHealth ($15M).
