Clearly given the political situation in Cyprus, I would say the trip is unlikely. That said, SS asked me for flights you would take if you went so they can prepare in case. After talking with Devon we tentatively identified British Air through London. You and D can meet in London. United (codeshare with Lufthansa) isn't great on the return - it requires a 3:15am departure! All the returns aren't great actually - even BA requires an overnight in London. For some reason it looks like the flights either leave in the middle of the night or so late in the afternoon you miss the connection for the last transatlantic flights of the day. Anyway, if it turns out you are going you can look at other options but Devon and I were pretty sure this was the best bet and staying a night in London isn't the worst thing either and traveling on BA is great. Just in case they mention anything to you. Eric D.
