Today DAGA is bringing you a quick update from the Mississippi race for Attorney General. Links: 5. mailto:jenifer@democraticags.org?subject=2011%20Fall%20Policy%20Conference 6. mailto:Stefan@democraticags.org According to a new (July 8th) state campaign finance reports Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood has a strong lead in cash on hand (CoH). In the past four weeks General Hood raised nearly $29,000 bringing his total cash on hand to $484,000. This gives General Hood a strong leg up over Republican challenger Steve Simpson who during the same period raised $17,000. Simpson’s CoH is reported at $195,000. Simpson is the former Mississippi Public Safety Commissioner. He was appointed by Gov. Haley Barbour. General Hood is the only Democrat in state-wide office in Mississippi and he is certain to face a well-funded challenge from Simpson, the MS GOP and outside third parties. To help General Hood defend his seat, visit his website at [7]Jim [8]Hood for Attorney General.
