Friend - I want to make sure you saw Tuesday's email from Loretta Weinberg: one of New Jersey's strongest leaders in the state legislature and a powerful advocate for women's rights. Cory's opponent, Jeff Bell, doesn't understand: 99% of women -- married, unmarried, with children or without -- use birth control at some point of their lives. Does Bell really believe they're "demeaned" when they use it? If so, it's dangerous to put him in a position of legislative power. Sign the petition and send a clear message: Contraception is an essential part of women's healthcare -- it doesn't demean anyone. http://act.corybooker.com/contraception Thank you for standing with Cory, and for standing up for our rights. Emily Gittleman Operations Director Cory Booker for Senate ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Loretta Weinberg, CoryBooker.com <info@corybooker.com> Date: Tue, Oct 7, 2014 at 12:04 PM Subject: The Pill = more abortions? Friend - With less than a month until November 4th -- Election Day -- it's imperative that we get the word out to New Jersey voters about what's at stake in this election for Senate. In an editorial last month, the Star-Ledger introduced us to Cory's opponent, Jeff Bell: Bell is against abortion even in the case of rape and incest, and thinks that the availability of contraception has led to more abortions. In his book, Bell wrote that "feminism, emboldened by The Pill, demeans women that want to marry and have children." Those views don't represent us, and we need to stand up and let everyone know it. Add your name to our petition now and stand up for our values: Contraception is an essential part of women's health care -- it doesn't demean anyone. http://act.corybooker.com/contraception The Star-Ledger said that "Bell has flung himself onto the smoldering dumpster fire left by the more dogmatic, sex-obsessed candidates of his national party." I couldn't have put it better myself. Jeff Bell's way of thinking doesn't match our values in New Jersey or anywhere in America, but it's up to us to represent ourselves. Thank you for standing with Cory and making your voice heard.
