Education Campus about her award-winning work The Warmth of Other Suns. Real World
History students read this book in preparation for their first semester coursework
on the Great Migration. In November, students will create their own oral histories
by interviewing an older generation of Washingtonians.

School hosted President Obama and the First Lady at the school's new playground

The next day, the 2014 Inspired Teaching Fellows gathered on the South Lawn of the
White House to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of AmeriCorps and be sworn in as
new AmeriCorps members. One Inspired Teaching Fellow, Daris McInnis, was selected

Recently, Inspired Teaching announced a new, two year, $400,000 grant from the Toyota

to support the expansion of SCALE: Science Curriculum Advancement through Literacy
Enhancement, a K-12 STEM program now being piloted in Washington, DC in partnership
with DC Public Schools. Bringing this program to more students, teachers, and school
districts across the country is a crucial step in our work to build a 21st century
education for all students.

to support the expansion of SCALE: Science Curriculum Advancement through Literacy

Inspired Teaching is now piloting SCALE in Washington, DC in partnership with DC
Public Schools. The Toyota USA Foundation's grant will support codification of
the SCALE program and its expansion to other school districts committed to implementing
the Next Generation Science Standards through an inquiry-based model that elevates
teacher voice.

President and First Lady join Inspired Teaching, KaBOOM!, and AmeriCorps on
National Day of Service playground build

2014 Inspired Teaching Fellows visit White House to celebrate AmeriCorps' 20th Anniversary

On September 12, the 2014 Inspired Teaching Fellows gathered on the South Lawn of
the White House to commemorate the 20th anniversary of AmeriCorps and be sworn in
as new AmeriCorps members.
