Ziadeh will begin her position as Ambassador of the United States to Qatar in August 2011. She most recently held the position of Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Prior to serving in Saudi Arabia, she was the Official Spokesperson at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, and before that she served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Manama, Bahrain. Previous overseas posts include Riyadh, Kuwait, Amman and Jerusalem. In Washington, Ambassador Ziadeh has served as the Desk Officer for Jordan and Acting Deputy Director of the Office for Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. A recipient of the U.S. Department of State’s Superior Honor Award numerous times, she was also awarded the 2008 Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Public Diplomacy. Ambassador Ziadeh earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington, a Master of Arts from the American University of Beirut, a Master of Science in National Security Studies from the National War College, and a doctorate in History from the University of Michigan.
