In 2010, my home state of Florida elected right-wing
Republican Rick Scott as our governor after he outspent his
Democratic opponent by $50 million -- a staggering figure
for a state election.

Governor Scott has gone on to slash education funding, make
it more difficult for women to control their own health
decisions, and tell millions of Floridians that they're out
of luck if they need quality health care coverage. It's why
only 31 percent of my fellow Floridians approve of the job
he's doing.

Right now, President Obama and Democrats are being
outraised by Mitt Romney and the Republicans. And we're
going to be outspent. Take it from me, and millions of
other Floridians who have learned this the hard way -- a
bad Republican candidate can overwhelm a good Democratic
candidate if they have enough of a fundraising advantage.
And the real-life consequences are disastrous.
