We are very pleased to inform you that Duchy Trachtenberg is running for the District 1 County Council seat. It is critical for the future of our business community that we place an individual in that seat who understands economic development, job creation, and above all: fairness and honesty. For too long, Montgomery County has "shut the door" on many of us.

Our daily efforts to run our businesses and to ensure that our employees have the ability to provide for their families are simply not a major consideration for some sitting Councilmembers. Regrettably, our current District 1 Councilmember, Roger Berliner, has made it clear that business and economic development are less of a priority for him than political expediency.

We want responsible, ethical, honest and hard-working leadership from our elected officials. This is why we are extremely proud to be helping Duchy Trachtenberg in her run for the District 1 Council seat. We have known Duchy for years, most notably during her fours years on the Council as an at-large representative. She has the highest integrity, is open to discuss issues, and she wants to see our county grow and compete! To use her powerful words: "We must create a local economy that sustains all families, leaving no one behind."

We couldn't agree more. It's time to send a progressive, pro-business message and Duchy's candidacy provides us with an extraordinary opportunity in which to bring the entire community together.

For all these reasons, we are personally hosting a fundraiser for Duchy Trachtenberg, on April 10, at Congressional Country Club.

Yes, we know you've heard from us in the past regarding fundraising plans. Please understand that this is an important objective for all of us. Our future is at stake and we need a voice at the Council who understands that the best policy decisions are based on merits and not politics.

With the election of Duchy Trachtenberg, we will have that voice - a proven leader, who understands that job growth and community development are not fatal diseases. We will have a public health professional who will find a balance between economic prosperity and the environment, a balance that is nonexistent now.

We want Montgomery County to again become a competitive powerhouse in this region. And we know Duchy shares that vision because she believes our community's diversity and ingenuity serve as our greatest strengths.

In contrast, Councilmember Berliner has been a deterrent to job creation and economic prosperity. Councilmember Berliner's primary goal is what's best for him, not the community at-large.

This is the right time for a very positive change in District 1. Please join us on March 27th. We're excited because the community has the power to bring about this significant change in leadership. Let's seize this political moment together so the true promise of Montgomery County can be realized.
