Tuesday’s primaries in Washington and Missouri set the stage of the general election for Attorney General, cementing the Republican candidates Attorney General Chris Koster and King County Councilman Bob Ferguson will face in November. In Missouri, incumbent General Chris Koster has also officially secured the Democratic nomination, and will face St. Louis attorney Ed Martin, the Republican nominee, this fall. Martin has long been considered the favorite on the Republican side, gaining over 70% of the vote. General Koster is looking to campaign on his strong record during his time in office and his successes protecting Missourians this fall. In Washington, a top-two primary system put Ferguson (D) against both Republican candidates, Reagan Dunn and Stephen Pidgeon. When the results came in, Bob Ferguson took a commanding lead, claiming 52.22% of the total votes. Republican candidate Reagan Dunn received 38.34% of the securing him the Republican nomination over Pidgeon. Ferguson’s strong showing in the primary race will help kick off his general election campaign this fall against Dunn, his fellow King County Councilmember.
