SIMON JOHNSON: Mario Draghi’s plans for looser monetary policy could
“make the European situation uglier. . . . For one, Draghi would
essentially be conceding fiscal dominance, demonstrating that if
governments run budget deficits, they can count on the central bank to
finance them. More important, the political consequences could be dire
if the ECB actually succeeded in stoking German inflation and weakening

AL HUNT: Almost all of the Republican freshmen in the House “continue
to stress conservative issues in the House and in seeking re-election.”
If Republicans keep control of the House, as is expected, it "is likely
to embolden Tea Party conservatives to be even more forceful, possibly
