I had a short, but pleasant conversation with George Economy. He does not
see that his membership on the Board "is perceived to be adding value." He
recognizes that he will not be in a position to contribute funds in the
foreseeable future. And, he also knows he provides no help on the policy
front. Thus, he has decided not to stand for re-election when his term
ends this year. He is, however, very glad to remain a "friend" of WFP USA
and is more than willing to help out with fundraising in the upper Northwest
as the opportunity may present itself.


He will provide us with written feedback on the assessment form. Once we
have received that input, it would be appropriate for one of you to send him
a note of thanks, and encourage him to attend the October meeting so that we
can recognize his Board service. (Doubt he will actually attend, but the
note would be important to send.)

Hi Bonnie,

Thanks for the email and review form. Would you have some time available
this week for a phone call to help me clarify my intentions for continued
service. As of now, I am inclined not to seek re-election unless I can
define a role that is meaningful to me and of value to WFP USA and fellow
board members. Since I don't possess connections to government or corporate
sponsors, I'm not certain whether my skills and contributions bring value to
the organization.
