<p><span> Thanks to you and to many other supporters like you, I have been blessed with another six years to continue representing Pennsylvania in the US Senate. </span></p>
<p><span> Earlier this year, I was appointed to the </span>Senate Finance Committee and named the Chairman of two subcommittees that will allow me to have a greater role in economic growth, fiscal responsibility and job creation. I will continue to focus on jobs, the economy and Pennsylvania priorities in my second term in the Senate.</p>
<p><span> Addressing the needs of today’s workforce is vital, but it is also important to think about the education of tomorrow’s workforce – our children. To combat the continuing bullying epidemic, <a href="http://images.myngp.com/LinkTracker.aspx?crypt=IVi0ax2%2b6UBSinc%2fCPYaKT55GGaNuL34vo9c%2f%2fqHmLfclAYCkpPCgAfSsJ6muGTSBV5ANPHy13y442pz5SCRJSXiS1j%2f7h92x6O8aV9lOb%2fClcN%2fJMlcEaaN28nWOCde8DH1CGojQNps8noxsY9QLIcu8B%2bk7QuzkSPqJYTwmrI8PLg0rm%2fZpDd7BVBFvgv%2f02yJqRcOBX0MexmReMTwQ6X2bVd8XDE9QPl3Sr7iDDFBJvDUZHTq5b0Ssqiq%2fX5DvKmP1NFi%2f%2fRh9c%2fdjyZRhuDf4OiQko82">I introduced the bipartisan <em>Safe Schools Improvement Act (SSIA)</em></a><em> </em>to help schools address and prevent bullying and harassment.</span> We all have an interest in keeping children safe and focused on learning. My bill will help ensure they receive a quality education and are able to build the self confidence they will need to succeed. This bill is a crucial step towards ensuring no child ever has to stay home for fear of being bullied.</p>
<p style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span>In addition to addressing bullying and harassment, I have introduced legislation to <a href="http://images.myngp.com/LinkTracker.aspx?crypt=IVi0ax2%2b6UBSinc%2fCPYaKfv1p9CrjvvqWv2wt41AF1MDQPFxlKqRZlvZ8O7uBiDXAIphRKk31F4d4SuyFdJ4XAtZOtBS7JWH0GSwmerO2ZRm9jbK10anwbwbBHOjbL6DaPnWBGZfj341F%2f592epz98Ljq34y%2bEbvas3dTdmgO%2b7brwJGmeB6BzCdsTbtwDiS">expand access to pre-kindergarten education</a>. Investments in early childhood education not only allows children to reach their full potential, but it pays dividends for America’s economic future. If we invest in early learning, our children will learn more now and earn more later. Today’s students represent tomorrow’s workforce and we need to make sure we give them the tools to succeed. </span></p>
