Did you see Lauren's email yesterday? She's right (she usually is!) -- we need to make Equal Pay Day a thing of the past. We need to finally promise our daughters that they will have as many opportunities as our sons.

Joe -

Today is Equal Pay Day -- a day where we measure how far into the current year women had to work in order to match what men earned the previous year. We're 92 days into 2013, which means that women had to work 92 additional days to make the same amount that men did in 2012.
This isn't right. All the women in our life – our mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends – deserve equality on the job. They deserve equal pay for equal work. That's why I’m asking you to stand with me today and sign Joe’s petition telling Congress to take action on this issue. Add your name here.
After he was sworn in, one of the very first bills Joe co-sponsored was the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would make salaries more transparent and allow women to act when they experience discrimination.

Joe will continue to fight for us down in Washington, and I hope you’ll join him. Click here to help make Equal Pay Day a thing of the past. Demand that Congress take action towards real equality in the workplace.
