In 2010, JVC Northwest partnered with AmeriCorps to bring over 50 years of experience
serving the most vulnerable of the Northwest into the Corporation for National and
Community Service's network. This partnership has enabled JVC Northwest to serve
more people through its agencies and expand to five new communities. Learn more

The Sequestration's Impact on AmeriCorps

Across-the-board budget reductions commonly known as "sequestration" began this
month due to the government's failed efforts at creating a plan to reduce the deficit.
The sequestration order cancels approximately $85 billion in budgetary resources
across the Federal government for the remainder of the Federal fiscal year. Under
sequestration the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) will experience
a funding reduction of 5% for all programs in FY 2013, including $17.3 million for
the AmeriCorps State and National program. The reduction of funding will further
limit the pool of funds available as JVC Northwest re-competes for another three
year grant for 2013-16.

FROM MISSION TO MISSION Workshops

These workshops are offered for domestic and international missioners and volunteers
who have recently completed their term of service. These workshops provide an opportunity
to process the experience, network with others who have had a similar experience
and get helpful advice about moving forward in a healthy way.

The schedule for 2013 is:

April 11-14 in South Orange, New Jersey

July 11-14 in Chicago, Illinois

October 31- November 3 in Chicago, Illinois

The workshops focus on: telling the story of your experience, honoring the gifts
of the experience, recognizing what needs healing from the experience, understanding
and dealing with transition, and integrating the experience. They are willing to
