I would like to share some big news with you.
This past Monday, the bipartisan Suffern Village Board adopted my 2013-2014 budget.
For the second straight year, our budget came in under the New York State Tax
Cap at 1.58%. We also announced that when the books are closed next month on our
2012-2013 fiscal year, we will be in the black for the second straight year.
We will also invest another $2.1 million in additional water, sewer and road upgrades
during 2013. All of this has been achieved without layoffs, cuts to service and
while lowering out debt service costs.
When you compare Suffern's tax increases to the tax increases in the Town of Ramapo
and Rockland County, the differences are stunning:
TAX INCREASES:

Village of Suffern: 2.98% in 2014

Town of Ramapo: 9.43% in 2014

Rockland County: 18.25% in 2014

I am proud to be the only candidate running for Rockland County Executive who has
a proven track record of keeping taxes down. As the Mayor of Suffern, I have proven
time and time again, that bold progressive leadership and a fiscally responsible
agenda can yield positive results, even in our tough and difficult economic climate.
Rockland County's government is broken and we need a proven leader to fix the fiscal
mess. I believe, under my leadership, we can stop these disastrous tax increases
and be proud of our county government again.
