At times of great sorrow and unexplainable tragedy, we stand together because that's what defines us as Americans.

In the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Boston, we saw first responders selflessly risking their own lives to save complete strangers. We saw ordinary citizens, not knowing if a third bomb might go off at any moment, rushing in to carry the wounded to safety. And we saw a nation respond to the worst that humanity has to offer with compassion, care and unity.

But for the victims and families that are forever changed by this senseless act of violence, their lives will never be the same.
