FIRST LOOK - Crossroads GPS ad uses screenshot of ISIL beheader: An ad out today hammering North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan features a screen grab from the terrorist group's video, as a narrator recalls the beheading of American reporters. It's a quick but familiar image of the masked killer, with a sliver of one of his victims' orange jumpsuits visible in the lower-left corner of the screen. The ad, from the Crossroads nonprofit arm, goes on to criticize Hagan, a Democrat, for missing Senate Armed Services Committee hearing that included a discussion of ISIL's threat and then uses direct footage of Hagan explaining that she missed it because of scheduling changes. "Kay Hagan skipped the
hearing for a fundraiser," a male narrator says as the ad concludes.

The ad claims that as speaker of the North Carolina House, he killed an equal pay bill and worked to defund Planned Parenthood. "Not someone our women and families can trust," a female narrator says.

"His name is on the bill to make abortion illegal - and he's denying it," a woman says, a reference to Gardner's sponsorship of federal personhood legislation. It's the latest flashpoint in a contest that's focused heavily on women's issues, from abortion to access to birth control.

The ad, a five-figure, one-week buy in Madison ,Milwaukee, Green Bay and LaCrosse/Eau Claire media markets. The ad is intended as a response to a recent Walker ad that suggests he's stayed out of women's health care decisions. The ad features a Madison woman accusing Walker of dishonesty and of signing legislation that interferes with women's health options.

--Wisconsin: "In a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court blocked Wisconsin from implementing a new voter ID law in next month's election. Mitch McConnell and his wife, former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, "personally took $600,000 from anti-coal groups." Where did most of this alleged "anti-coal" money come from? Wells Fargo. Yes, the bank. Chao received $684,000 over the last three years as a member of the bank's board of directors. Wells Fargo in 2006 - five years before Chao joined the board - initiated a policy not to extend credit to mountaintop removal projects (MTR) "or to a coal producer that receives a majority of its production from MTR mining." But it still lends billions to coal companies. The Sierra
