Hunter, I wanted to follow up on our recent correspondence about getting connected to Greg Penner at Walmart. We're energized by Walmart's push into health services, and looking forward to seeing if there's a strategic fit. Specifically, we think there may be an opportunity to serve Walmart's population with Counsyl services. Our patient population is interested in rapid, affordable care, and could potentially represent new patients for the services (particularly in women's health) that Walmart's clinics provide. We've included a few notes on background for Greg below. ************** Counsyl performs clinical tests at actionable times in life. We currently offer three distinct tests: * Family Prep Screen: a test for would-be parents for recessive disease-causing genes that can be passed silently from parent to child * Informed Pregnancy Screen: a test for pregnant women that can detect disorders like Down's syndrome with a simple blood draw * Inherited Cancer Screen: a test for mutations associated with developing breast cancer (among other cancers) Our tests are well-vetted, used by ~14,000 medical professionals across the US, covered by insurers spanning ~150M lives, and extensively peer-reviewed in the scientific literature. * Demand for this sort of screening is extraordinary, and we’re leading the charge: our Family Prep tests are now involved in 1 in 20 pregnancies in America, and growing. * This testing is rapidly becoming a part of the consumer mindset, and consumers want to access these tests beyond legacy hospital/medical settings. We’re aligned with Walmart’s goal of making healthcare more accessible. * Tactical note: we execute all the counseling associated with these services, talking with patients about the results with our network of genetic counselors. Patients and doctors alike love that we do this, and they love how nice the experience is with us. * For these tests, we are (remarkably) the best on cost, turnaround time, accuracy, and doctor and patient satisfaction. This reflects years of hard work by a very talented group of clinicians, scientists and engineers in South San Francisco. We realize that retail healthcare is a growing effort at Walmart, and think there is a great opportunity to incorporate Counsyl as part of Walmart's health initiatives, particularly around women's health. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss with Greg and his team further. Thanks Hunter! Ramji Srinivasan ramji@counsyl.com 650.714.1635 180 Kimball Way South San Francisco, CA 94080
