Dear Parents and Guardians:<br />

This week on the Wisconsin Avenue campus, we were required to put our emergency plan into action on two separate occasions. <br />
<br />
On Monday, Middle and Upper School students and faculty were instructed to move indoors due to police activity in the area. They returned to regular activities a few minutes later when we received an all clear from law enforcement. On Thursday, students and employees were evacuated to the baseball field in response to a threatening phone call. A comprehensive search of the campus by police determined our buildings and grounds to be safe and, approximately 30 minutes later, students returned to class. You should be proud of your children for the composure and cooperation they demonstrated on both days.<br />

For security reasons, I am unable to provide any more specific details about these two unrelated incidents. However, I want to assure you that Sidwell Friends follows safety and security procedures that were developed in consultation with law enforcement officials and school security experts. We regularly conduct drills to prepare members of the community for a variety of crisis situations. Following each drill and incident, we perform a thorough evaluation of our protocols. <br />
Please know that the safety and security of our students is of paramount importance to all who work at Sidwell Friends.<br />
