I just told Beau, but I had a good conversation with Celia Cohen about our
report. She was positively gushing about how great it is, from the amount
raised ("astounding for an off-year") to the high profile donors on there
like Lucy Baines Johnson and former Senators like Blanche Lincoln and Chris
Dodd.
She also said the numbers are clearly a sign that he's running for
Governor. I didn't play that up, but I wasn't aggressive in dissuading her.
I just said he hasn't made any decisions yet about future races, but has
been clear about his desire to continue in public service.
She did ask if she could expect Beau to have a full schedule on the
campaign trail. I used that as an opportunity to say that his plate as AG
is full between his laser-like focus on Wilmington crime issues to bills in
front of the General Assembly and just day-to-days issues at DOJ. She
agreed that campaigns really don't need to ramp up until after the
legislature goes out at the end of June, absent some larger issue like a
primary, or a credible Republican threat.
She thought she would wrap up her article today, so I will send it around
to the group once it's posted.
Thanks,
Moll
