Dan - thank you for distributing the opinion piece from Sunday's NY Times. In 2012, FAO revised the methodology used for developing the global hunger numbers based on expert recommendations. These revisions required changes in prior year calculations - which was justified and described in the report referenced in the article. The attached doc briefly describes the revisions and responds to comments in the article. I hope this is helpful. -----Original Message----- From: Glickman, Dan [mailto:Dan.Glickman@aspeninstitute.org] Sent: Sunday, September 28, 2014 10:18 AM To: Rick Leach; Hunter Biden; Randy Russell (rrussell@russellgroupdc.com); Samuel Berger Subject: "Counting the Hungry" very interesting NYT opinion piece in todays paper about the unreliability of statistics on counting the world's hungry.
