By Kyle Cheney With Maggie Haberman and Steven Shepard The following newsletter is an abridged version of Campaign Pro's Morning Score. For an earlier morning read on exponentially more races - and for a more comprehensive aggregation of the day's most important campaign news - sign up for Campaign Pro today. ( http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=af054cf648384e2b9c348bcae04cdb8028d7e899515be161ded6dd03cd3bc4d9 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=af054cf648384e2b9c348bcae04cdb8028d7e899515be161ded6dd03cd3bc4d9 ) AIR WARS - Paul films spot for Alaska's Sullivan: Sen. Rand Paul will boost Alaska Republican Dan Sullivan's Senate candidacy in a major new ad campaign launched by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Paul is the star of an ad supported by a seven-figure buy, according to the Chamber, which says it's aimed at winning over independent, swing voters. "Nothing's going to change when Mark Begich votes with his liberal Democrat friends 91 percent of the time," Paul says to the camera. "Washington takes too much of our freedoms and too much of our money. I think Dan Sullivan will get it back. And to change Washington, change your senator." The ad is airing statewide and on digital platforms. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=af054cf648384e2b9a7318fb4f5fbd60a12d1dc92d4b0febe7bd6461d45117f9 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=af054cf648384e2b9a7318fb4f5fbd60a12d1dc92d4b0febe7bd6461d45117f9 - 2010 flashback: "U.S. Chamber picks Trey Grayson in Kentucky Senate fight" http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=af054cf648384e2bfa76e8feb8b807f3cfdeb47a270f43589ef2a0eb4b2dbe9b http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=af054cf648384e2bfa76e8feb8b807f3cfdeb47a270f43589ef2a0eb4b2dbe9b "Obama takes star turn in state political ads," by Center for Public Integrity's Ben Wieder: "The president or his signature health care law have been mentioned in more than 1 out of every 10 television ads that have aired about elections for state-level political office so far in the run-up to Nov. 4, according to the latest Center for Public Integrity analysis of data from media tracking service Kantar Media/CMAG. Comparatively, more than one-third of political ads in U.S. Senate races have mentioned the president, according to the Center's analysis. Combined, more than 300,000 ads have aired mentioning Obama or the health care law." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=af054cf648384e2b515348bbdcbc8c92857c5865884a7f9da17bd58567ba26d1 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=af054cf648384e2b515348bbdcbc8c92857c5865884a7f9da17bd58567ba26d1 Kristol group launches anti-Pryor ad: The William Kristol-led Emergency Committee for Israel is launching a seven-figure television, radio and digital ad buy to boost Republican Senate hopeful Tom Cotton in Arkansas in the final stages of his race against Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor. The buy is more than $700,000 on cable and broadcast TV in Arkansas markets, with the rest spread over radio and digital. 'We're for a strong Israel and a strong America,' said Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard and head of the group. 'So is Tom Cotton. He'll be a great senator.' The Pryor-Cotton matchup is one of the closely-watched contests this season as Republicans try to regain control of the Senate. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=af054cf648384e2bc37ee0af0b588c08860597ccb3928db0417511db0e67cfc9 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=af054cf648384e2bc37ee0af0b588c08860597ccb3928db0417511db0e67cfc9 CASH RACE - WSJ: Crossroads GPS, American Crossroads top $100 million raised: The Wall Street Journal's Rebecca Ballhaus and Brody Mullins report that the two affiliated groups report that the organizations' fundraising has eclipsed $100 million, much of it coming within the last month. That portends a flood of ads supporting Republican candidates in the final weeks of the election cycle. "In North Carolina, for example, Crossroads GPS has spent $5 million all year to help Republican Thom Tillis in his effort to defeat incumbent Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan. In the next month alone, it plans to spend another $5.1 million to help the Republican," the duo reports. POLITICO reported this week that Crossroads intends to increase its presence in Iowa and New Hampshire. TODAY ON CAMPAIGN PRO - "How Kay Hagan stayed afloat," by Tarini Parti: "Democrats in the most competitive Senate races in the country are worse off now than they were this summer. But there's one notable exception: North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan. Despite being one of the most at-risk Democrats running in a state where President Barack Obama is unpopular, polls show Hagan has maintained a small-to-moderate lead - 4.2 points in the latest RealClearPolitics average - in her race against Republican state House Speaker Thom Tillis. "Hagan and supporting groups have used a sizable cash advantage to overwhelm Tillis on the airwaves, honing in on unpopular laws from the state Legislature to paint the Republican as out of touch. That air assault, combined with Tillis' lackluster fundraising, has enabled Hagan to avoid the slide her fellow vulnerable incumbents have suffered." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24df6bb5853a7599ac165cb288a05c34a0550803affea5af5cc http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24df6bb5853a7599ac165cb288a05c34a0550803affea5af5cc "Are Big Three Senate races slipping from Dems?" by James Hohmann, with POLITICO's Burgess Everett: "It's been the most remarkably enduring story line of Election 2014: Three Democratic senators defying their states' deep red complexion and their president's abysmal approval ratings to stay competitive in races that should have, on paper, been lost long ago. The question all along has been, Could it possibly last? Now, a month out from the election, Republicans are seeing subtle but perceptible signs that contests in Alaska, Arkansas and Louisiana - all three pivotal in the battle for the Senate - are finally breaking their way." "Officials from both parties caution that all three races remain competitive; any or all of the incumbents could ultimately survive. But the shifts in the GOP's favor recently are significant, said National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Jerry Moran ... All three incumbents are working hard to court the narrow slice of crossover voters. In an ad this week, Pryor talked about taking on the feds to block farm dust regulations. West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin went skeet shooting in Louisiana this week to assure voters that Landrieu supports the Second Amendment. Begich is running ads starring GOP endorsements, including the widow of a former Republican governor saying he works across party lines." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24dc9bb3501b4796d058f1d75059787632c2ab45aa43737b206 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24dc9bb3501b4796d058f1d75059787632c2ab45aa43737b206 ** Growmerica™: Growth opportunities created by commercial lending, leasing and advisory services from CIT. It's a place he loves and is loved, while his political and personal stock falls elsewhere. And it's a place where Gov. Pat Quinn is in need of help. Having the incumbent Democratic governor lose in Obama's home state would be the kind of embarrassment that would drive home how deeply damaged the president is." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24db220185874d9ef6ece7b975bca86f13f48e02d3385dab69f http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24db220185874d9ef6ece7b975bca86f13f48e02d3385dab69f KANSAS TWIST - A tough week for Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback got worse with a revelation that an FBI investigation into close associate is active and underway. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that a former Republican state senator - defeated in 2012 by a Brownback-supported conservative primary challenger - revealed Thursday that he has spoken repeatedly with the FBI about Brownback's former chief of staff David Kensinger, now a lobbyist and adviser to Brownback's campaign. Kensinger is being targeted in an investigation on "influence-peddling" associated with Brownback's reform of Kansas's Medicaid program, KanCare. "The FBI called me. The investigation is very real," Kelsey said at a news conference, according to the Capital-Journal. "It's not a political thing with them at all. They do not want government that is corrupt. I am confident it's not finished." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24d9edd7d9de6aee8c62857a701d53c2b06a858fa33f1323564 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24d9edd7d9de6aee8c62857a701d53c2b06a858fa33f1323564 FIRST IN SCORE - It may be the most famous bathroom break of the midterms. Scott Brown's trip to the men's room after ducking a reporter's question on Hobby Lobby is the subject of a mocking digital ad campaign launched by Planned Parenthood Action Fund today. The $20,000 effort places animated images of brown in a bathroom stall and invites users to click to find out "why Scott Brown is hiding in a bathroom." The Boston Globe reports that Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards will be campaigning today with Brown's opponent, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, today. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24de68eab333c80e68700009cee7aeb63b7f95b3dbdaf161aaf http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24de68eab333c80e68700009cee7aeb63b7f95b3dbdaf161aaf FACTCHECK.ORG WHOPPER OF THE WEEK: Rep. Cory Gardner, the Republican Senate candidate in Colorado, grabs this week's honor for insisting "there is no federal personhood bill." Gardner is a co-sponsor of the Life Begins at Conception Act. The bill would extend "equal protection for the right to life" under the 14th amendment to each "preborn human person," and defines "human person" from the "moment of fertilization." It has been described as a "personhood" bill by other cosponsors and anti-abortion groups. During an interview that aired Sunday on a Denver TV station, Gardner was asked why he remains a cosponsor of the federal personhood bill if he no longer supports the state personhood ballot initiative. Gardner repeatedly claimed there isn't a federal personhood bill. We disagree, as we said in an earlier article called, "A Fight Over Birth Control in Colorado." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24d6102c13b83de2b3b0ac4b8d2225a169eff22f300519b5f45 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24d6102c13b83de2b3b0ac4b8d2225a169eff22f300519b5f45 - "Fact-checking the Kentucky Senate race" http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24ddd0cfda1629605a71e09d0eb299afd81341fd1a8732d0bed http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24ddd0cfda1629605a71e09d0eb299afd81341fd1a8732d0bed CODA - QUOTE OF THE DAY: "The establishment has a lot more money and is willing to smear conservatives candidates with false attacks." - Senate Conservatives Fund spokeswoman to the Washington Post, on why the group had a pretty miserable election season. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24d499262fbd8cf2a60e8e9db433c3de46a2065ae46aaf7756a http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=0821ef9cdc3ff24d499262fbd8cf2a60e8e9db433c3de46a2065ae46aaf7756a ** Growmerica™: Growth opportunities created by commercial lending, leasing and advisory services from CIT.
