KING & SPALDING ----------------- In this LEVICK Insights video interview, former U.S. congressmen Mike Andrews and Bob Ehrlich preview the upcoming King & Spalding Washington Insight program Trade Promotion Authority Legislation: Can Congress and the President Agree? To watch the video, follow this link: http://levick.com/blog/2014/02/21/tpa-legislation-can-congress-and-president-agree. ----------------- Washington Insight: Trade Promotion Authority Legislation: Can Congress And The President Agree? Wednesday, February 26, 2014 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. King & Spalding LLP 1700 Pennsylvania Ave., NW Suite 200 Washington, D.C. 20006 ----------------- In his recent State of the Union Address, President Obama asked Congress to pass Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation to permit him to pursue trade agreements with European and Asia Pacific nations. Under TPA, Congress gives the President authority to negotiate trade agreements pursuant to negotiating objectives established by Congress and in close consultation with Congressional members. In return Congress agrees to consider completed agreements without amendments in a speedy up-or-down vote. Please join us for a panel discussion with top lawmakers from the Ways & Means Committee who will explore what TPA, and the trade agreements they facilitate, mean for jobs, the economy, and the environment, and whether lawmakers can find a path forward to pass TPA legislation this year.
