Wednesday - February 19, 2014 From the School Message from Lee In preparation for next year's course selection process, Collection today will be a presentation of the Upper School Curriculum for school year 2014/2015. This will be followed by group and individual discussions with advisors over the next two weeks. The same presentation will be given to parents this evening at 7:00 pm in the Robert L. Smith Meeting Room. Course selection is done online and will open on Wednesday, February 26. Course selection sheets must then be printed, signed by a parent and given to your child's advisor by Monday, March 10. We start working on the master schedule as soon as we have the students' choices and placements, and many decisions need to be made about sectioning and staffing based on their choices. Please help your child be as thoughtful as possible about course selection as no elective changes will be considered until classes begin on Tuesday, September 2 . Students have the first two weeks of school to consider elective changes within the built schedule. If you have any questions about this process, please contact your child's advisor or Mamadou Guèye, Upper School Academic Dean. Members of the Math Club competed in the annual Duke Math Meet on Saturday, February 15th. After the trip to Durham, NC was cancelled because of weather conditions, the organizers at Duke offered to let Sidwell students (and students at other schools) participate in the meet remotely. Eight Sidwell students competed in the all-day event, which included three rounds of team/collaborative problems and one round of individual problems. Congratulations to the Foxy Mathletes team which earned 9th place in the meet of 31 teams, and the four individual Sidwell students who placed in the top 50 percent! Re-Enrollment for 2014-15 IMPORTANT – The re-enrollment process for 2014-15 is currently underway. You can access your child’s contract through the parent portal. The contract along with deposit must be submitted by Friday, February 21, 2014. Call the Admissions Office at 202-537-8111 with any questions.
